E3 and beyond

The Electronic Entertainment Expo has come and gone. What Impressed us and what left us wanting more?

For the actual attendees, the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is a four-day marathon through a giant room filled with noise, smells and flashing lights. Fueled by Cheetos and dogged by hangovers, gaming's biggest annual event can be summed up succinctly with two verbs: cheering and barfing. (3) comments

The celebrity world never ceases to amaze me. The biggest highlight in celeb gossip news since many of the Storrs undergraduate community left the bustling campus involves everyone's favorite "Speidi" duo: Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt. Now, I'm under the impression that the only reason celebrities do "challenge-esque" shows (think: "Real World Road Rules Challenge") is for some extra cash and Speidi may be a little desperate with their latest attempt on "I'm a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!" The couple traveled to the show's production site in Costa Rica and, attention deprived, spent a night in the show's "Lost Chamber. (2) comments

Brewers love seasons. They're a great excuse to make new seasonal beers, which I have to admit often look very enticing. Seasons can conjure up sentimental memories for us: a wonderful fall day raking leaves or a wintry afternoon spent building a snowman before going inside to have hot chocolate in front of a roaring fire. Rain has put a small damper on much of the summer. But weather is no reason to let your summer adventures slow down. Here are some suggestions of ways to spend those humid wet days. About a week and a half ago, I made the trek out to Long Island's Nikon at Jones Beach Theater to check out the first of the handful of shows I plan on attending this summer - the NINJA 2009 Tour, or as Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor calls it, the Wave Goodbye Tour. (2) comments
