Baseball and basketball not to be missed this weekend

As students begin to face the reality of the horrific amount of work due by the end of the semester, it would be great if there was something to do this weekend to take our minds off work, not necessarily involving a bottle. Well, consider yourselves lucky because this should be one exciting weekend for sports fans as March Madness comes to its climax, and baseball gets set for its first weekend of action.
Friday April 5 through Sunday April 7: Major League Baseball: New York Yankees at Tampa Bay Devil Rays. YES
That's right, Americas team is back in action as they head to Tampa for their first weekend series of the season. Despite the loss of Derek Jeter, the Bronx Bombers still have more than enough firepower in the lineup to handle the Devil Rays. This year the Yankees not only sport one of the top lineups in the league, but also an array of talented pitchers including Roger Clemens, Chris Hammond, Mike Mussina, Andy Pettitte and David Wells. The Devil Rays have started their season out optimistically with an opening day win over the Boston Red Sox.

While one half of campus gets ready to watch the Yankees make a run at another World Series title, there is another half of students already saying wait until next year. That's right, the Boston Red Sox go into their first regular season weekend series Friday against the Baltimore Orioles. Although the Red Sox do have their starting shortstop in tact, they are going to need a lot more than that to beat the Orioles. Overall, Saturday, April 5: NCAA Basketball Final Four: No. 3 seed, Midwest, Marquette vs. No. 2 seed, West, Kansas. CBS

Already in this tournament the Golden Eagles have made history by becoming Conference USA's first ever Final Four team. However, standing in the way of the conferences first ever national title are the Kansas Jayhawks. This will be Marquette's first Final Four appearance since 1977 (third overall) when the Golden Eagles, coached by the late, great Al McGuire, won the national title. Kansas, on the other hand, will be making their 12th Final Four appearance in school history and try to win their third national championship (it would be Kansas' first since 1988). The keys to a Marquette victory lay in big performances by Conference USA's leading scorer Dwayne Wade and by freshman phenom Robert Jackson. On the Kansas side, it will need to be the senior leadership of Nick Collison and Kirk Hinrich to put the Jayhawks into the championship game.
