They were a tandem in college and now they have a chance to be a tandem in the NFL.
Sean Mulcahy and Uyi Osunde may not have been selected last weekend in the 2004 NFL draft, but the services of the two former UConn defensive line standouts were still in demand.
The former tri-captains were signed with the Cleveland Browns just minutes following the conclusion of the draft Sunday evening.
UConn has not had a player drafted since 1994 when linebacker Paul Duckworth was chosen in the sixth round by the Green Bay Packers.
Teams probably were reluctant from choosing Osunde because of his right knee which he underwent surgery for in December. Osunde had a surgery to repair cartilage damage after he suffered an injury in the Huskies' first game of the season against Indiana.
Mulcahy was a long shot at best to be drafted and said before the draft that signing on with a team as a free agent might more advantageous than being drafted.
