Have you ever wondered what it was like to be ridiculously good looking and to live in a postcard? It's not as perfect as it sounds. MTV's reality show "Laguna Beach" documents the lives of tan, toned and wealthy high school students in Laguna Beach, Calif. This guilty pleasure premiered last September and has returned this summer for a second season.

This season the lead drama kings and queens are Kristin, Jessica, Taylor, Alex, Jason, Talan and Casey, the beauty queen. Random updates on last season's cast members Lauren (LC), Stephen, Lo, Christina and Morgan have also popped up.

For those that have just taken on the "Laguna Beach" craze, the first season is available on DVD for about $30. The first season mainly focused on the love triangle between Stephen, LC and Kristin. LC and Stephen have graduated, leaving Kristin to "rule the school" as she puts it.

The show follows the gang around as they gossip, surf, tan and "hook-up" with each other. The show includes such escapades as Prom, Winter Formal, spring break trips to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and everything in between.

Although Kristin is still getting over Stephen, she has been playing the field as much as possible - arranging hook-ups with old pal Talan and even going out with friends to meet boys at bowling alleys and bars.

This season's triangle is between Jessica, her boyfriend Jason and Alex. The triangle has sparked competition amongst two cliques.

Seems interesting? Seems lame? Loving or hating "Laguna Beach" is as heated as choosing between the Yankees and Red Sox.

"I have never seen more than 30 seconds of it and I don't get how it's so popular," said Shawn Beals, a 5th-semester journalism and history major.

"When I first started watching the show I thought it was really stupid and a big waste of time," said Erin Andersen, a 5th-semester coaching and administration major.

The addictive nature of the show turns haters into lovers.

"However the more I watched the more I became intrigued with the lives of these privileged California teens," Andersen said.

This quality does not always work its charm on viewers however Kurt Padilla, a 5th-semester mechanical engineering major said he doesn't "like watching self-absorbed, spoiled, stereotypically blonde drama queens."

Padilla has seen the show one or two times and did not find it to be appealing.

Betrayal, love, friendship and sand-the second season of Laguna Beach seems to have everything as well as some unanswered questions. What does LC plan to do now that she has dropped out of college? What happened with Stephen and LC in Mexico?

The reality of the show, however, is that it is not all reality. As stated by LC herself on the season one DVD, MTV called the cast members and announced when filming would occur. Cameras were also not following the teens around 24/7.
