Point: Which Team Is The Biggest Disappointment In The NFL?
Even Favre Can't Rescue Packers From Their
Pat Parker

The most disappointing team in the NFL this year is the 1-6 Green Bay Packers. Yes, that's right, the Green Bay Packers. This has been a playoff team since the inception of the NFL. Now they are keeping the basement of the NFC North, the worst division in the league, warm and they will probably stay there the whole season.
The sad part about this ordeal is this is probably going to be Brett Favre's last year in the NFL, and one of his longest and most difficult.
After losing to Minnesota in the first round of the playoffs last year, Favre decided to take one more shot at winning it all. With a supporting cast of Ahman Green at running back and Javon Walker at wide receiver, the Packers looked like a good pick to take the NFC North and go into the playoffs to give Favre one more shot at a ring.
However, this dream season Favre was expecting to end his career on came to a crashing stop when his leading receiver, Walker, and his best running back, Green, got injured for the entire season. Along with these two key offensive weapons, the Packers have had 12 other injuries the first half of the season.
These injuries have killed the Packers when it really matters, in the fourth quarter. Favre is known for his awesome fourth quarter comebacks, but in four of their six loses they have lost by a combined score of nine points, meaning he hasn't come through with his normal late victories.
It is not like Favre is not trying to carry his team by himself, because he is. He has a 85.7 percent quarterback rating, but the number that he would like to not show up on his stats is his 13 interceptions, four less than his total picks in the 2004 season. However, the main reason the scores of the games have been so close is Favre. He has led some great fourth quarter drives, but they have fallen a little short of the win.
This is because the defense doesn't start stopping the opposing team from scoring until the lead is too much to overcome. They are giving up an average of 15 points in the first three quarters. This is putting too much pressure on Favre to make comebacks every game. They have allowed some of the worst offenses, including the Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings, to score 26 and 23 points respectively. These stats definitely won't lead a team to the Super Bowl.
The Browns game was also a let down to the team because it was the first home game of the year. They couldn't even snag a win at Lambeau Field, where they are usually unbeatable, but not this year where they are 1-2.
This tough season for the Packers does not get any easier for them because their next two games are against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Atlanta Falcons, two Super Bowl contenders this year. It may take a long time for the Packers to find their second win of the season, but if anyone can pull a comeback it is Favre and the Packers.
Last year they started a miserable 1-4 but bounced back to go 9-2 in the final 11 games of the season, but this year their key injuries may finally end the career of one of the greatest quarterbacks ever.
