Women's track continues to dominate in the outdoor season.

The women's outdoor track team won its fourth consecutive meet this past weekend, at home Saturday.

The team dominated the meet, finishing with 230 points, 77 points ahead of Brown, who took second place. URI finished in third place with 64.5 points. SCSU, UMass, Boston University and Providence were also represented at the meet.

Tamara Highsmith had been named ECAC athlete of the week on Thursday for her performance at last weekend's Brown Invitational. This is the second time that Highsmith won the title this season. Highsmith was also named the athlete of the week on March 29 after a dominant performance at the Dick Shea Open.

Highsmith lived up to her title at the UConn Select Invitational. She won the 100-meter hurdles and the high jump. Highsmith also finished second in the triple jump and took third place in the long jump.

The team was most dominant in the sprinting events. The Huskies swept the top three spots in the 100-meter dash and the top two spots in the 200-meter dash.

It was Jessica Foreman who won the 100. Foreman was followed by Kara Budd, Monique Hodges and Alyssa Evering in second, third and fifth place, respectively.

In the 200-meter dash, Budd took the victory and was followed in second-place by Evering.

Amanda Martin was the strong point for the Huskies in the weight events. Martin won the shot put and took second-place in the javelin throw.

Erin Donnelly and Cassie Buckwalter also came up big for the team in the hammer throw, taking first and second-place, respectively. Buckwalter also finished in third in the discus.

Jen Rogers also had a big day, as she won the long jump and took third in the triple jump.

The other first-place finishes at the meet for the Huskies were with Marlene Priest in the 400-meter hurdles, the 4x100-meter relay team and the 4x400-meter relay team.

The Huskies also had five other second-place finishes.

Kaitlyn Whitlock was runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles. Leah Williams was second in the pole vault. Rachel Porter was second in the high jump. Orlaith Cunningham was second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Mandela Graves-Fulgham also had success in the sprinting events with a runner-up finish in the 400-meter dash.

Next weekend the team will split up to attend both the Penn Relays and the Brown Invitational. It will be the last weekend of meets, before the Big East Championship at UConn on May 5 to May 7.
