Together, HBO Network and Comcast are offering the opportunity of a lifetime to college students.
Ziddio.com is a new user-generated Web site, similar to YouTube, with different sections for comedy, videos, artwork, movies and music all submitted by users. The opportunities
Ziddio offers students manifests in two contests. The first contest is "Ten Day Take," the winner of which will work with an independent production company, Endemol, and a $50,000 budget to create a pilot completed in 10 days and documented in a 'reality style' series showcased on Ziddio and on television through Comcast ON DEMAND, according to a press release.
"We are thrilled to launch this new partnership," said Jon Vlassopulos, vice president, business development, digital media and strategic planning for Endemol, USA, in the release "that now allows anyone with a great concept for a show to take it from idea to broadcast, which is indicative of where we see the industry moving."
Ziddio is also collaborating with HBO's U.S. Comedy Arts Festival for the second contest, "No Talent Nation," which will give an up and coming or hopeful comedian the chance to perform at the Comedy Festival. Aspiring comedians can submit short comedy or musical parody videos, which will also be featured on Ziddio and ON DEMAND.
Submissions are all through Ziddio.com. The deadline for submission to the "No Talent Nation" contest is Feb. 5 and the deadline for the "Ten Day Take" is Feb. 28.
