The beats pump like blood through your veins as the music fills every crevice of the room. The raucous, friendly atmosphere of a bar meets a spacious dance floor and gleaming laser lights inside of Temptations, Hartford's newest nightclub.
Temptations, one of two area clubs with an 18 and up night, opened on Thursday, Feb. 1 to lines of eager college students looking for a place to let loose and do something new.
"There's no where to really dance on campus, so Temptations really gives us an alternative to the normal UConn setting and a place to shake it and have a good time," said Sophia Gulemi, a 2nd-semester business major.
Temptations, which has two floors and two bars, is located in the heart of downtown Hartford on Asylum Street. Parking is both close and convenient. Emceed by John Chic, the club boasts its great drink specials for the over 21 crowds, including free pitchers until 11 p.m., and $3 mixed drinks.
The club scene is both "upscale and vibrant," according to Richard Vasile, the owner of the club. "The Hartford scene is up and coming, and Temptations definitely adds to the mix."
SkyLine Entertainment, founded in 2005, does the promoting for Temptation's Thursday 18 and up college night. Co-owner and founder Drew McCarver, 22, works with partners Joey A/X and Nick Serafini to guarantee unique experience for every visit.
"[Temptations] brings a lot to the table. Staff, workers, DJs and promoters all come together to bring a different kind of party that sets the club apart from the rest. From house music to hip-hop; Top 40 hits to reggaeton. Temptations provides an extremely versatile environment," McCarver said.
With the huge success of SkyLine bus tours, SkyLine has put together a bus route that brings students from campus to the club in an effort to provide a more safe and fun experience.
"The bus is an awesome time with loud music and people getting all pumped up." John Celentano, 20, is the Hartford manager of SkyLine Entertainment.
"The buses are a wonderful way for people to get to the party, and get there safely - which is the main selling point. Temptations lets out late, so students don't have to worry about the drive home," Celentano said.
Temptations is SkyLine's first venture into the Hartford club scene, with other promotions in New Haven, including Friday nights at Gotham Citi and Saturday night's at the Center Street Lounge with DJ Fusion rocking the house all night.
