New Charge For Steamer

UConn student Keith Steamer pled guilty to a new charge of violating a protective order Friday, along with charges already brought against him stemming from a Jan. 19 assault of a female acquaintance.
By accepting the plea agreement offered by the state, Steamer also pled guilty to second-degree unlawful restraint and third-degree assault in Rockville Superior Court Friday.
Steamer was arrested April 7 and arraigned in Rockville Superior Court April 9, where the judge issued a full protective order against him.
The protective order required that Steamer refrain from imposing any restraint upon the person or liberty of the victim, threatening, harassing, stalking, assaulting, molesting, sexually assaulting or attacking her, entering the family dwelling, the dwelling of the victim or wherever the victim shall reside, having any contact in any manner with the victim and coming within 100 yards of the victim. The court ordered this to remain in effect until the disposition of the criminal case or further order from the court.
However, recent developments and police interviews of the victim's friends have found that Steamer had been frequently seeing the victim and continuing to have sexual relations with her, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
The victim visited the UConn campus at least a dozen times, according to the warrant. Steamer is still a UConn student and lives in Hollister Hall in West Campus Dormitories, according to the UConn phone directory.
When interviewed by police, the victim said that Steamer would stay over at her parents' house and sleep with her in the basement. The victim said her parents were aware that Steamer was staying over, according to the warrant. She also spoke to Steamer on the phone frequently and sent text messages. She said that they would speak on the phone instead of text messaging so that there would not be as much evidence of them talking to each other. The victim said that they knew that she and Steamer were not supposed to see or speak to each other.

So the victim knew there was a protective order out on this guy, and yet she continued to converse with him, spend time with him, and even have sex with him? Obviously she's not too upset that he raped her earlier this year. (Continued…)

And furthermore, where were this girl's parents during all of this? They allowed a guy that raped their daughter to spend the night with her alone in their basement? What kind of parents would allow her to even speak to the kid?
They should be brought up on some sort of criminal negligence charges. (Continued…)
