'Making The Band' Makes The Cut

I am a sucker when it comes to reality TV shows. With the upsurge of reality television since the launch of the writers' strike saga, it's hard not to be. Biggest Loser, Celebrity Apprentice, The Hills, Life of Ryan, American Gladiators … I hate to love them, but I do. I waited in high anticipation for the premiere of my top reality show last Monday night, and as expected, I was completely satisfied.
Making the Band 4 is back for a second season, and it is better than ever. I know what you're all thinking, "It's just another dumb reality show, we don't need any more!" However, let me explain to you just what makes this show so good. Even if you aren't Diddy's biggest fan, you have to give credit where credit is due. The man is an absolute genius, the ultimate entrepreneur. As CEO of Bad Boy Entertainment, designer of the Sean Jean collection, a multifaceted entertainer and humanitarian, Diddy is truly one of the most successful businessmen of our time.
He breeds money, and that is exactly what he has set out do with the new members of his boy band. You're eager to see how a man as talented as Diddy can transform a group of unknowns into superstars. If you tuned into last season's live finale, Brian, Mike, Qwanell, Robert, and Willie were exclusively picked by Diddy to complete his band. As a surprise, Donnie, the heartthrob, was selected as a solo artist. To shake things up a bit, he has also brought back the divas of Danity Kane: Aubrey, Aundrea, D. Woods, Shannon, and Dawn. In case you have forgotten, Danity Kane's first album went platinum. They're the real deal. No. Seriously.
I never could stomach Aubrey. I think she is a fake blond with a model body that makes for good publicity. Dawn is clearly the standout of the group, but the combination of the four seems to mesh well together. Yes, Diddy will play maestro to the band as these three groups begin an extensive journey to produce three multiplatinum albums.
If you ask me, it's time for the return of the boy band. There hasn't been a hit R&B group since Boyz II Men. "End of the Road," "I'll Make Love to You," and "Water Runs Dry," are classics, but I'm ready to be serenaded by a new talent. These guys have what it takes to make it big.
Making the Band 4 has everything one could ask for in a reality show: drama, hookups, humor, stupidity, success, and failure. It's the perfect ending to my Monday nights. As Diddy put it best, "We're going to take over the world if you all with it."
