This year's official Spring Weekend dress code will be Apple Bottoms jeans and those boots with the fur, as rappers T-Pain and Flo Rida will be coming to UConn to perform at Gampel Pavilion April 26, according to SUBOG Concert Chair Beth Cheney.
T-Pain, the 22-year-old rapper and producer, is currently riding high on the success of his 2007 sophomore album, "Epiphany," which was certified gold. The Tallahassee native is arguably best known for his many collaborations with some of hip-hop's biggest names. Some of his biggest singles are "Buy U A Drank (Shawty Snappin')," "Bartender" and from his debut album "Rappa Ternt Sanga," "I'm Sprung" and "I'm N Love (Wit A Stripper)."
Almost impressive as T-Pain's album sales is the list of artists he's worked with. Since his career started, T-Pain has shared song credits with artists like Akon, Mike Jones, Chris Brown, Yung Joc and Kanye West.
Opening for T-Pain is rising star Flo Rida. His debut album, "Mail On Sunday," powered by his hit singles - and a definite for his set list - "Low" featuring T-Pain and "Elevators" featuring Timbaland, was released earlier this month.
In order to be fair to the student body, SUBOG will be selling tickets via a lottery for undergraduate students at Storrs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning March 31 through April 3 in the Student Union along Union Street. Lottery tickets will also be available April 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Student Union Room 204.
Lottery numbers will be assigned an hour-long time slot to purchase tickets between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday, April 14. Times will be posted on Wednesday, April 9, in The Daily Campus, Student Union Room 204, Student Union Information Center, Athletic Ticket Box Office and the SUBOG Web site. Tickets remain on sale from April 15-25 for all other students until sold out.
General admission on the floor will be $20 ($40 for guests), and all other seats will be $10 ($30 for guests). Tickets may be purchased by UConn students only and guests must be accompanied by an UConn student with a valid UConn ID.
There will only be 5,000 tickets available for the Spring Weekend concert.
