Name: Katy Ryan

Sport: Lacrosse

Year: Junior

Position: Midfield

Hometown: Hamburg, N.Y.

Major: Communications

How do you feel being the team's leading scorer this season?

I feel great, but I wouldn't have been able to do it without my teammates assisting me all season.

You scored eight goals this weekend, helping to jump-start the offense. What do you do to help motivate the offense on the field?

I like to try to set up my teammates on assists, or to score myself to get the momentum going in our direction.

You've put up multiple goals in many games, including a record-tying seven against Loyola. What is it about your playing style that allows you to score multiple times per game?

I'm very aggressive and I try to hustle all over the field. I'm very determined and if I see us lose the ball I try to go after it and gain possession.

Do you feel a responsibility as a junior to step up and lead the team next year? Absolutely, everyone wants to have a great senior season.

What's the single most memorable thing, on or off the field, you'll take away from the team this year?

How the season wasn't the best in terms of wins and losses but we stuck together and kept our heads up.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

I like to dance and go crazy in the locker room with the team.

Being from New York, what made you chose to come play at UConn?

I wanted to go out of state, and get a great education as well, and I thought UConn was a good opportunity for me to learn and play lacrosse.

Where is your favorite place to hang out on campus?

Hilltop Apartments.

What are you most looking forward to this summer?

My internship at CNN in Atlanta.
