After being sent home in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last season, the road to redemption for the men's basketball team features two games against Big East foes Pittsburgh and Notre Dame, a trip to Virgin Islands and late-season home date with Michigan.
Syracuse, Notre Dame and the Wolverines highlight the Huskies' schedule at Gampel Pavilion, while games against Pittsburgh, Villanova and Georgetown will be held at the XL Center.
The match-up with Michigan will be the second time the two teams have ever met in men's basketball, the first coming in the 1939-1940 season.
After two exhibition games against AIC (Nov. 5) and UMass-Lowell (Nov. 9), UConn, 24-9 overall and 13-5 in the Big East last season, officially opens the season Nov. 14 at Gampel against Western Carolina.
After a grueling 2008 Big East schedule that saw the Huskies take on several ranked teams in a 10-game span between January and February, this year's conference schedule is more manageable.
UConn will face teams with winning records last year in a row just twice during Big East play - against Villanova (Jan. 21) and at Notre Dame (Jan. 24), and a three-game stretch against Marquette (Feb. 25), the Irish (Feb. 28) and Pittsburgh (March 7) to end the season.
After falling 85-82 to Gonzaga a year ago, the Huskies will seek revenge Dec. 20 in the Battle in Seattle at Key Arena.
