"This UConn carnival was put on by SUBOG just as a small daily event for students who might be around the area," said Merle Brown, 7th-semester communications and fine arts major.
"We are also promoting Friday's cookout with President Hogan [where] wings from Wings over Storrs will be served."
In addition to the free snacks, an outside company was brought in to provide some carnival-like entertainment with a mini-golf course set up outside the Student Union Food Court. Even a strange pink elephant mascot with polka dots made a brief appearance.
Students could also create their own pixie sticks by choosing from the multitude of flavors and colors. Seems this powdered candy dispenser has made many other appearances since students seemed excited to see it brought down from the SUBOG equipment truck.
Flyers with the information for Friday's cookout with Hogan were stapled to the bags of popcorn handed out for free. Students with Husky Roadshow tickets received free admission to the Grillin' with Mike cookout in which Wings over Storrs will provide some of their famous wings to attendees. It will be held on the CLAS Quad at 4 p.m.
