Race for UCC UConn

Issue date: 9/26/08 Section: Focus
Have you ever watched a game show and wished you could be a part of it yourself? United Church of Christ at UConn is giving students that chance with their upcoming Amazing Race event.
Teams will be given a clue at the beginning of the race, and then have to figure out where to go to from the clue. Once they arrive at the correct location, each team will be given a challenge that they need to perform before they are able to get the next clue.
This event is a fundraiser to help raise funds for UCC UConn's annual alternative spring break trip for hurricane relief. This year the proceeds will go towards the group's trip to New Orleans to aid in Hurricane Katrina cleanup.
The Amazing Race event will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, at noon. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. and the fee is $20 per team of five. $15 from each team will go towards the UCC trip, while the other five will fund prizes for the top three teams to finish. The first place team will receive 60 percent of the proceeds, the second place team will receive 30 percent and the third place team will receive 10 percent. Registration and the start of the race will be held in the Storrs Congregational Church auditorium.
The event will be held rain or shine, and any teams interested in registering should pre-register their team by e-mail.
