Method Man, State Radio to play local shows

Buckethead

Tuesday, Oct. 7, 8 p.m., advance tickets $17

Experimental/instrumental/progressive rock artist Buckethead is best known for playing guitar while wearing a white mask and a KFC bucket on his head. He can play numerous instruments, including bass guitar, banjo, ukelele, saxophone, and more. His music sounds similar to that of Praxis, Thanatopis and Paul Gilbert.



Atmosphere

Saturday, Oct. 11, 5 p.m., advance tickets $18.50

Hip-hop/underground rap group Atmosphere is a Minnesota group headed by rapper Slug (Sean Daley). Atmosphere's music sounds similar to Aesop Rock, Brother Ali, and Sage Francis.



Omegatron-Electron & the Omega Moos

Sunday Oct. 12, 8 p.m., advance tickets $20

Electronica/dance musician collaboration, featuring members of The Disco Biscuits, Umphrey's McGee, The New Deal, The Duo and Brothers Past, Electron and the Omega Moos will be teaming up to make a house party being called Omegatron. These bands have a similar sound to Sound Tribe Sector 9, Bassnectar and The Field. Don't forget your glowsticks.



Method Man and Red Man

Tuesday, Oct. 14, 8 p.m., $25

Hip-hop/rap legends Method Man and Red Man came to UConn last year, but in case you don't know they are an East Coast hip-hop team who starred in the movie "How High." They sound similar to the Wu-Tang clan (which Meth is a member), Raekwon and Ol' Dirty Bastard.

Mushroomhead

Thursday, Oct. 9, 7 p.m., $15

Metal/goth rock band Mushroomhead is known for its unique sound and the black masks that most members wear on stage. Based out of Ohio, this band sounds similar to Mudvayne, Crossbreed and Spineshank.



State Radio

Friday, Oct. 17, 8 p.m., $15

In case you missed their recent UConn performance, here's a second chance. Featuring lead singer Chad Stokes, former Dispatch singer, the band still has an indie/jam/reggae sound similar to that of Dispatch, O.A.R. and Slightly Stoopid.
