Issue date: 11/3/08 Section: Focus
Returning to the Co-op for another get-out-of-your-seat-and-dance rock 'n roll performance, the faculty band 'Off Yer Rockers' plans to raise money and spirits tonight from 4 to 6 p.m.
The performance will feature the UConn faculty talents of Davita Silfen Glasberg (sociology; vocals), Harry Frank (chemistry; vocals and bass guitar), Eric Jordan (mechanical engineering; drums), David Miller (psychology; vocals and rhythm guitar), Ernie Zirakzadeh (political science; lead guitar). Last year's performance featured songs such as "Louie, Louie," "The First Cut is the Deepest" and "I Can See the Sun Clearly."
Though admission to the show is free, there will be a donation box, with all proceeds going to the Willimantic-based Covenant Soup Kitchen.
Located at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, the Covenant Soup Kitchen offers breakfast and lunch to guests in need six days a week, and on Friday evenings from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
