Lauren Aird scored a pair of goals to help No. 7 UConn win a share of the Big East regular season title with a 4-0 victory over Villanova Saturday in Villanova, Pa.
In a game in which UConn coach Nancy Stevens earned her 300th win since taking the head coaching position at UConn in 1990, the Huskies (16-2, 5-1) took the lead with under 10 minutes left in the first half.
Cara Silverman's goal from Lindsay Leck gave UConn all the scoring they would need; but Aird tallied twice in the second half. Leck had UConn's other goal.
UConn shared 5-1 league records, and the regular-season championship, with Louisville and Syracuse. But the Huskies will be the No. 3 seed in the Big East tournament, to be held at UConn this weekend, due to tiebreakers.
