Since it was Patterson's first time doing stand-up at UConn, one could say the pressure was on to see if Huskies would find the British Columbia native humorous.
It turns out his aloof personality and quirky jokes were enough to keep a steady stream of laughter issuing from the packed theater.
"We wanted Patterson to perform here because he is young and very accessible," said Brian Manotok, Comedy Chair for SUBOG. "Plus he has done routines on Comedy Central, so we knew he'd be funny."
"Live at Gotham" was Patterson's American television premiere in the comedy world.
Some of the material from the show was used last night, including a few jokes about his relationships with girls and his love for TV.
"TV gets good after 3 a.m.," said Patterson. "Especially the warnings before certain shows, except instead of putting, 'Warning, this show may have inappropriate content for some viewers,' the warning should say, 'There will be nudity in this show, did you lock the door?'"
Another skit Patterson used in his routine was about why there are no "girl" video games.
According to Patterson, they would be inaccessible once a month with a side of moody.
And, should you make a mistake in a "girl" video game, instead of dying, players would be constantly reminded of what they did wrong for the rest of the game.
It was obvious Patterson relied on using the topic of sex and relationships to keep the audience entertained.
Right away he scanned the crowd for 'hot girls' and even proceeded to impersonate the various ex-girlfriends he's had.
However, he openly and humbly admitted that he didn't really know anything about girls.
Patterson's constant interaction with the crowd was well received and made up about half of his stand-up routine.
He addressed every person who came in late, but not in an evil, humiliating way.
Looking like he just rolled out of bed, it was difficult to guess whether or not he was telling the truth about smoking weed.
