In today's economy, who can afford to hit up all the big summer tours with A-list headliners? I know I can't. Alas, as spring is almost upon us and tickets begin to go on sale for all the shows of the first half of the year, it's time to make some choices. Here are my best bets:

Bamboozle

Ticket Prices: Single day pass goes for $57, while a two-day pass is $104

Tour Dates: May 2-3

Closest Shows: East Rutherford, N.J.

The set list for this year's Bamboozle festival is stacked and definitely worth the two-day pass. Saturday night's headliner is Chicago pop-rockers Fall Out Boy and those going on Sunday are in for a real treat as No Doubt (in case you haven't heard, they're back together) headline the whole festival. Also on the bill are Taking Back Sunday, The Used, Gwar, New Found Glory, Rise Against and Third Eye Blind.

No Fear Energy Music Tour featuring Lamb of God

Ticket Prices: $36

Tour Dates: April 2-May 15

Closest Shows: April 18, Worcester, Mass., May 8, New York, N.Y. and May 12, Boston

Probably the purest metal tour of the year, Lamb of God has teamed up with No Fear Energy to deliver its Wrath Tour, supporting its new album. Children of Bodom and As I Lay Dying are the supporters with God Forbid and Municipal Waste rotating the opening slots.

15th Annual Warped Tour

Ticket Prices: TBA

Tour Dates: June 26-Aug. 23

Closest Shows: July 12, Hartford, July 18, Uniondale, N.Y. and July 21, Boston

The best thing about the Warped Tour is the variety. Over the past few years, it's hosted not only the (what is now) staple emo and pop/rock bands, but also hardcore, hip-hop and even metal. While a list has already been released, the tour coordinators have been known to add more bands as the beginning of the tour approaches. Some notable groups this year are Black Tide, Big D and the Kids Table, Flogging Molly, Meg & Dia and Senses Fail.

New England Metal and Hardcore Festival

Ticket Prices: $40 for Friday, $45 for Saturday or $79 for the two-day pass and admission to Thursday night's kickoff party

Tour Dates: April 17-18

Closest Shows: Worcester, Mass.

Two days of metal at an incredibly affordable price. All That Remains and Lamb of God headline the festival on Friday and Saturday respectively. If you want to kill two birds with one stone, all of the supporting acts from Lamb of God's No Fear Wrath Tour will appear at the festival as well.
