UConn police have identified the individual whose suspicious behavior caused police to send out an alert text message and e-mail notification to the campus community Saturday night.
The incident was an isolated event and there is no further threat to the university, according to Major Ronald Blicher.
"We feel that the reason we sent the safety alert on that night has been rectified," Blicher said.
Police received information after sending out the alert that helped them identify the male, described as older than college age and wearing a red or brown cloth jacket and jeans. Blicher said it was premature to comment on the circumstances of the incident, in which the male reportedly came within several feet of the personal space of a female outside of Hilltop Apartments. The man did not talk to the woman and there was no physical contact, police said.
