Last year, Storrs was ranked No.4 in CNNmoney.com's Top 25 places "where the singles are living."
According to the Web site, 70 percent of the 14,300 people (as of 2008) who are living in our area are unattached.
Tomorrow, however, is a day to celebrate couples.
Maybe you had a significant other last year.
Maybe you aren't official with your "partner," but you've been hoping that they would ask you out.
Maybe you have a crush on a co-worker but neither of you wants to make the first move.
No matter your predicament this Valentine's Day, make sure that you take advantage of all the fun things going on in the area.
Here are some happenings for the V-day weekend both on and off campus, for the attached and the other 14,299 singles out there.
Friday, Feb. 13
The Willimantic
Chocolate Festival
Where: Downtown Willimantic
When: All weekend
The festivities for the weekend include romantically themed celebrations and offerings from downtown restaurants and businesses, as well as "chocolate-friendly organizations," according to the press release.
The weekend will be highlighted by several special events, including demonstrations, a cake-baking contest, theatrical and musical performances, the crowning of the 28th Romantic Willimantic Cupid, gallery strolls and the Annual Chocolate Lovers Affair today at 6 p.m.
The Chocolate Lovers Affair will treat guests to an extensive selection of chocolate, organic and vegan desserts and cakes. The smorgasboard will be accompanied by an Italian barista preparing espresso, cappuccino and specialty coffee beverages.
This affair is followed by the Choco-Vaudeville Spectacular, which will feature a live musical revue in the theater.
Tickets for the Chocolate Lovers Affair and Choco-Vaudeville Spectacular are $15 per person, $25 per couple, and can be purchased at the event.
