Dyson out for season with knee injury

UConn men's basketball hasn't been defeated since Dec. 29, but Wednesday against Syracuse, the Huskies suffered their biggest loss of the season. Junior shooting guard Jerome Dyson tore the lateral meniscus in his right knee with 15:44 remaining in the first half and, after having an MRI yesterday, has been ruled out indefinitely.
"We are obviously all very disappointed for Jerome, who has been such a big part of why we are 23-1 and in first place in the big east," said head coach Jim Calhoun. "I know that he will work hard in the off-season and be back next year as a major contributor to our future success. As for our team going forward this season, it is another challenge we will have to face. We have very good players who I know will rise to the occasion and fill the void left by Jerome's absence."
Dyson is scheduled to undergo surgery next week. Following the surgery, the team will make a ruling on whether Dyson will be able to return at any point this season.
Dyson started all 24 games for the Huskies and averaged 13.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.83 steals per game.

Kind of irresponsible journalism to say he's out for the season in the headline, but later saying it's to be determined whether he'll be able to return. (Continued…)
