Women's hockey ends season in Providence
A goal 14 seconds in was all the Friars would need as they shutout the Huskies 3-0 at Schneider Arena on Saturday.
Providence's Laura Veharanta snuck a fluke goal past freshman goalie Alexandra Garcia to put the Friars on the board and give them a lead they would hold the entire game.
The Friars committed just one penalty the entire game giving UConn only two minutes on the powerplay, one aspect of the game where the Huskies have been tremendously successful.
Saturday's loss marks the second season in a row the Huskies have been knocked out in the Hockey East Quarterfinals by Providence.
Baseball wins two over weekend
The Huskies picked up two wins in the Kennel Club Classic this weekend defeating George Mason 6-2 Friday and North Florida 10-2 Saturday.
In Sunday's matchup with Ohio State UConn fell 21-14 in a game in which the Buckeyes tallied 20 hits and seven home runs.
Sophomore Mike Olt picked up four RBIs over the weekend and currently leads the team with eight while batting .542.

Sophomore Greg Nappo was tagged for eight runs in 2.2 innings pitched Sunday, giving up two home runs in the Buckeyes eight run third inning.
Lacrosse falls to Stags
UConn is still in search of its first win since March 30, 2008 after losing 17-10 to Fairfield on Saturday.
The Stags jumped out to a 6-0 lead until Kim McGinty netted a pair of goals to bring the Huskies within four, the closest they would get for the remainder of the game.
Fairfield rattled off four straight goals to go into the breka with a 10-3 advantage over the Huskies.
Kristen Coleman started the scoring off for the Stags in the second half tallying a hat-trick and leading Fairfield to a 15-3 lead causing UConn to change goalies with Anna Wallingford taking over in the net.
UConn managed five goals in the last 8:10 with tallies by Whitney Michele and Lauren Gunning but could not overcome Fairfield's lead.
