World Baseball Classic - Netherlands vs. Dominican Republic (Saturday, 11 a.m., ESPN360.com): What the WBC allows for is to see players who would not usually play with each other on the same team. In this case, the Dominican Republic has Alex Rodriguez (at least before the Yankees' star revealed a hip injury this week) as well as Pedro Martinez, not to mention a wealth of other stars that make them among the favorite to dethrone reigning champs, Japan.

NCAA basketball - No. 25 Syracuse at No. 15 Marquette (Saturday, 2 p.m): Marquette desperately needs a win. The Eagles have lost three in a row against UConn, Louisville and Pittsburgh. This is their last chance to get a win before the Big East Tournament starts. They have been lost ever since Dominic James went down with a broken foot against UConn and their tournament stock continues to fall.
NBA - Phoenix Suns at San Antonio Spurs (Sunday 3:30 p.m. ABC): The Suns are still trying to fight their way into the top eight in the Western Conference to get the final playoff spot, but as of late they have been fading. Phoenix has lost back-to-back games and has fallen three games behind the eighth-place Mavericks. The Spurs will not be an easy win, though Tim Duncan may be able to contain Shaq, who has been unstoppable of late.

NCAA basketball - No. 7 Duke at No. 2 North Carolina (Sunday, 4 p.m. CBS): It doesn't really get any better than Duke vs. North Carolina in March. It also is on CBS, which means no Dick Vitale, so it really doesn't get any better. It is especially good when it is meaningful, and the two teams find themselves in the top 10. Even with a win, the best the Blue Devils can hope for is a share of the ACC regular season title.
