It's been a dismal week in the Hollywood community with the death of two celebrities. Natasha Richardson, most famous in our generation as Elizabeth James in the 1998 remake of "The Parent Trap," died from a blunt impact to the head during a ski trip last Monday. Richardson reportedly "fell and tumbled during her private ski lesson," according to People Magazine. "An ambulance took her to a nearby hospital, Centre Hospitalier Laurentien, and later in the day she was taken to Sacre Coeur Hospital in Montreal, where was treated in the intensive care unit."
And if the news of Richardson's death wasn't enough, Jane Goody, a British reality TV star, passed away early in her sleep Sunday morning from cervical cancer. Goody, whose claim to fame was the British version of the reality Big Brother in 2002, made a consciousness effort to raise awareness of her cancer and how prevention could help others during the last years of her life.
In the rest of the celebrity community, the repercussions are starting to set in for some not-so-good actions. Lindsay Lohan, who has arguably tarnished her "Hollywood glam" reputation with her antics over the past year, now has her eye on the modeling industry.
In a recent interview, Logan said she'd love to sign up with the IMG modeling agency. To this columnist's surprise, the agency is actually interested.
Ivan Bart, the senior vice president of IMG Models, told Perez Hilton, "She's a beautiful girl and obviously knows a lot about fashion. Providing that she was contractually free, we would take a meeting."
Speaking of contractual obligations, "Unwritten" singer Natasha Bedingfield has officially tied the knot with Matthew Robinson. The California businessman and Bedingfield were wed in an outdoor ceremony at the Church Estates Vineyards in Malibu, Calif. on Saturday, according to People.
The ceremony, which only took 30 minutes, was decorated with rose petals, complete with one flower girl and four bridesmaids. According to reports, Bedingfield's dress was by Vera Wang.
And in other relationship news, Harrison Ford proposed to Calista Flockhart over the weekend. Flockhart, 44, most famous for her role as Ally McBeal on the self-titled hit series, and Ford were engaged over Valentine's Day weekend while away on vacation. The engagement should not be a surprise to any fans however; the couple has been dating for seven and a half years.
And last but not least, M.I.A., who gave birth to a baby boy named Ikhyd Edgar Arular Bronfman on Feb. 11, will be taking Amy Winehouse's spot at this year's Coachella music festival Winehouse has been denied a work visa due to "legal troubles," according to Perez Hilton. M.I.A. will be performing on April 18 in Indio, Calif.
