Towers' 2 HRs power Huskies past Pirates

UConn picked up a pair of Big East wins Sunday with a sweep of Seton Hall in South Orange, N.J. The Huskies took the first game, 4-3, before winning the second game, 9-2.
UConn (11-8, 2-2 Big East) clobbered Seton Hall pitching to the tune of five home runs between the two games. Julianne Towers connected for a homer in each game.
Danielle Del Ponte hit her second homer of the season to give UConn a 2-0 lead in game one. Towers' fifth-inning homer gave UConn an insurmountable 4-1 lead. Seton Hall rallied for two in the seventh, but Tricia Sullivan (8-4), who pitched a complete game held the lead.
In game two, the Pirates trailed 3-2 into the sixth inning. But the Huskies plated six, including a three-run shot from Justyne Roy. Jessie Stavola (1-0) pitched 6 2-3 innings in relief to pick up the win.
