It holds about 63,400 permanent seats with the potential to reach 72,200 seats. There are 77 public bathrooms, including 30 men's, 35 women's and 12 family restrooms.
In total, the University of Phoenix Stadium - the home of the NFL's Arizona Cardinals - encompasses 1.7 million square feet.
So when the Huskies play Purdue Thursday, they'll be stepping onto a court in one of the largest arenas that UConn has ever played in.
In 1997, the idea emerged in Phoenix to build an arena that would set a new design standard for all sport facilities to come. In order to accomplish this feat, Peter Eisenman, one of the most influential architects of the 20th century, was brought in to design what would become the current University of Phoenix Stadium.
In 2006, the stadium officially opened after being under construction for three years.
In its short three-year history, the stadium has already witnessed some of the greatest sporting moments of all time.
On Feb. 7, 2007, 62,462 fans watched the U.S. men's soccer national team defeat Mexico, 2-0 in a friendly match.
And while the stadium may encompass 1.7 million square feet, it only took David Tyree a few feet to create one of the most amazing plays in sports history, when he caught a pass from Eli Manning that helped the Giants beat the undefeated Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.
Since its construction, it was voted the best NFL facility of 2006 and 2007, according to the Sports Business Daily. The stadium also received recognition as one of the top-10 sports facilities in the world in 2006 by Business Weekly.
And while the lone winner of this weekend's games travels to Detriot for the Final Four and the National Championship, the University of Phoenix stadium will host the Kachina Kennel Club Dog Show.
