The men's tennis team had its two biggest matches of the regular season this weekend, and both ended in losses. The first came Saturday; a 5-2 loss to Big East nemesis Georgetown. The next day, St. John's defeated UConn 6-1, making it two home losses in two days. UConn fell to 6-4 on the season, 0-2 in Big East Conference play. The only thing the Huskies can do is move in, and look forward to their Thursday match at Marist.

"We told the team there is still more season and games to be played. This past weekend was one of our main goals and objectives," said assistant coach Michael Louis, "We'll see them again in the Big East tournament. We just have to learn from it, and put forth the lessons learned in future matches."

The match starts at 3:30 at Marist's world-class Tennis Pavilion in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The Red Foxes are 3-2-3 and coming off two straight blowout losses at the hands of Ivy League teams Brown and Dartmouth. Nicolas Pisecky, a sophomore from Switzerland who recently earned MAAC Player of the Week honors, leads the Foxes.

Andrew Marcus, Tom Cook, and Joe Goldstein have led UConn the past two matches. They are the only Huskies to score points as of late, but many other top players have lost very close matches. Scott Warden, Dave Adams, Ben Shueler, and Joey Michaels will look to avenge their close losses from this past weekend.

"Like all of our opponents, we match up very well against Marist," Louis said. "They have had our number in the past. Our guys work hard to prepare themselves for each team we play."

The match looks to be a good matchup for both teams looking for a win, and UConn would like to get a much-needed win over the Red Foxes.

"Marist has been a strong team for a number," Louis said, "but this year we're a strong team as well."
