It will be an important weekend for UConn when Seton Hall and Cincinnati visit Storrs. The Pirates and Bearcats will both provide stiff competition for the Huskies in two Big East matches at the University of Connecticut tennis courts.

Seton Hall is 7-8 overall this season with an 0-4 record in conference. The Pirates endured a five-match losing streak during the season, but have come back to win three of their last six matches. When UConn traveled to New Jersey last year, they defeated the Pirates 5-2.

Cincinnati comes to town with a 7-9 record and a 3-1 mark in the Big East. The Bearcats are on a two-match win streak and beat Seton Hall 4-3 in their last time out. Cincinnati also defeated St. John's, who recently beat UConn. Last year, the Huskies did not face Cincinnati.

"I think we stack up well against Seton Hall and Cincinnati. It should be a hard fought match," assistant coach Kate Tellers said.

UConn lost at St. John's on Wednesday 4-3 after leading the match 3-1. The Huskies swept all three doubles matches and received singles wins from BreAnn Cheung and Alison Campitiello. Kelley LoRusso and Emily Herb each won the first set of their singles matches, but could not hold on in the end.

Although UConn has lost two of their last three Big East matches, the Huskies have still won five of their last seven. The team feels as if they are still in the midst of a winning streak, even with the loss to the Red Storm.

"The girls are still feeling good about the last few matches. They have continued to work really hard and all of the team has found a way to contribute this season, to the success of the team," Tellers said.
