The softball team will travel to Pennsylvania today for a double-header against Big East opponent Pittsburgh. The Huskies currently hold a 15-11 record (3-4 Big East) after splitting their weekend series with Syracuse, and will be looking to improve on that with a couple of big wins over the Panthers. Pittsburgh currently holds a record of 14-13 (3-4 Big East) and is coming off four straight losses to Syracuse and St. John's in the past week.
The key to the Huskies' attack will be sophomore Julianne Towers, a talented infielder who has gotten off to a torrid start to this season. Towers leads the team with a .398 batting average and five home runs, as well as a team-high 23 runs scored. Seniors Micah Truax and Jillian Ortega have been right there as well, as both have once again started the season strongly and continued to contribute to the Huskies' early success.
Following the double-header, the Huskies return back to Storrs where they will meet Boston University on Thursday at 4 p.m. Another double-header will be played on Sunday afternoon against CCSU.
