Black-listed

Black. Some people like to think that it's not a color. I like to think that those people are stupid - if it's on a crayon, it's a color. Anyway, the color black is a pretty universal color in music. Found in album names, group monikers, even genres and in the titles of some of the greatest songs of all time. Here is my list.
"Back In Black" AC/DC - Who doesn't love this song? AC/DC's triumphant return after the death of original singer Bon Scott was marked by this classic. Some believe the song serves as tribute, citing the lyric, "Forget the hearse 'cause I never die."
"Cry of the Black Birds" Amon Amarth - Sweden's finest melodic-Viking metal love Norse imagery, and the black bird is often associated with the god of war, Oden.
"Black Dog" Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones told Mojo Magazine that, when the band went about writing "Black Dog," they wanted something that people couldn't dance to.
"Blackout" Method Man and Redman - Hip-hop's favorite pot-smoking duo collaborated on plenty of projects over their careers, but "Blackout" was the only album they produced together. The titular track demonstrated the pairs love for all things lyrical.
"Black Or White" Michael Jackson - One of Jackson's latter hits. This plea for racial tolerance featured Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash on the opening.
"Welcome to the Black Parade" My Chemical Romance - MCR's climactic anthem from their smash hit "The Black Parade" takes on Queen and '80s glam rock with its own flavor making for an arena-ready masterpiece.
"Black Republican" Nas - One of hip-hop's finest teams up with rival-turned-friend Jay-Z to trade rhymes for the first time over a mix of "Marcia Religioso" from "The Godfather III Soundtrack."
"Paint It Black" The Rolling Stones - One of the most widely popular Rolling Stones songs, this 1966 chart-topper chronicles the mourning process of a man whose lover had just passed.
"Black Magic Woman" Santana - This sleek and sexy Santana hit was originally a Fleetwood Mac song that the Mexican guitarist adapted. The group's keyboardist, Gregg Rolie, who sang lead on the song, went on to be a founding member of Journey.
"Black Hole Sun" Soundgarden - Remember when Chris Cornell was a respectable rock singer? Yea, those were good times. This psychedelic, surreal track is easily Soundgarden's biggest hit, and found a second life in "Rock Band."
