With the UConn men's and women's basketball teams both advancing to the Final Four and the women winning their sixth national title, its pertinent to see which Huskies saw their draft stock rise whether it be in the WNBA or NBA.
Renee Montgomery, point guard
After struggling from the floor for the first half of UConn's semifinal win on Sunday, Montgomery came alive in the second half. UConn's senior point guard ended the day with 26 points, six assists and only one turnover. Montgomery showed her ability to push the tempo as well as a superb knowledge of when to pass and when to take a shot. With her ability to create something out of nothing Montgomery vaulted to the top echelon of point guards in this years WNBA draft.
Stanley Robinson, small forward
While it is still unclear whether Robinson will return for his senior season in Storrs, the junior wing had a strong showing in the later rounds of the NCAA Tournament. Robinson had a breakout game in the Sweet 16 against Purdue when he notched a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Robinson showcased his athleticism and ability to exploit defenses with a midrange game, sinking a few key jump shots to secure UConn's Elite Eight win over Missouri..
Tina Charles, center
Though Charles still has another year left in Storrs she has shown her dedication to the sport and growth in talent since she came in as a freshman. Charles tallied 25 points and 19 rebounds in UConn's 22-point rout of Louisville in the championship game and was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team. Charles dominated the glass with four offensive rebounds and held Louisville forward Candyce Bingham to just 10 points, four shy of her season average.
