I would like to address many of your comments and concerns regarding CFACT UConn's presentation of Chris Horner on March 31 in Castleman 212. I would first like to applaud that both of you attended the presentation, and I would also like to add that we at CFACT UConn respect your opinions, and your right to free speech. We also understand that, as a paid commentator, Daily Campus columnist George Maynard has many reasons for distorting and grossly misrepresenting our event, for he is (as many commentators are), purely entertainers. We would also like to bring light to the fact that neither Mr. Maynard nor letter-writer Richard Tracey disputed any scientific information Mr. Horner presented throughout the lecture. In fact, both gentlemen relied with the same political propaganda that Mr. Horner spoke against.

Many flaws were made in both of your articles, but I will start with your most blatant of errors. CEI (which is the company that Mr. Horner works for, but he was not speaking here on behalf of) is a non-partisan, non-profit, public, think-tank. CEI also doesn't accept any government funding, and has been called "The best environmental think tank in the country" by The Wall Street Journal. You both also expressed interest in the funding regarding CEI. To this I would suggest you look at any environmental organization's budget sheet. Like United States Climate Action Partnership, which receives funding from Shell, BP, Chrysler, GM, GE, and Caterpillar to just name six of the 30 big-business funders.

Personally, I believe that these private companies have every right to donate whatever money they want to whatever they want. I believe this because I believe in the freedoms of this country. Now on the other hand, the U.S. government has proposed funding for global warming alarmist groups in upward of $150 billion in the next 10 years, or 37,500 times more funding than CEI gets in total from private funding.

Second, both of you expressed interest in Mr. Horner's expertise in this area. This question can easily be answered by looking into his biography. Mr. Horner has been asked to speak to the U.S. House and Senate on matters of environmental policy, and has presented environmental matters in such courts as the Supreme Court. Mr. Horner also presents information from such atmospheric physicists as Willie Soon from Harvard and Richard Lindzen from MIT, just to name a few.

Another factually void, denialist piece from CFACT. What a joke.
