In the final home meet of the season, UConn women's track couldn't have had a stronger showing. At the UConn Select Invitational, the Huskies won 11 events, taking home the top two spots in nine of those events.

"It was all about our seniors today," said coach Bill Morgan. "It was the start of our celebration of our senior class and the pride we have in them. What they have brought to the program and to the school, and with their accomplishments - it's great to honor them."

UConn took the top three spots in the javelin throw. Amanda Martin won the event, while Danika Ham and Jennifer Aldieri placed second and third respectively. Victoria Flowers finished third in the hammer throw and sixth in the women's discus, and Tynisha McMillian took first in discus.

In the shot put, McMillian and Flowers were together again, finishing first and second respectively. UConn's Carin Knight and Rachael Porter took the top two spots in the high jump.

The 3,000-meter steeplechase featured Huskies in five of the top six spots, and UConn also took home the top three spots in the 100 meter dash and 800 meter run. Samantha Willis of UConn placed second in the 400-meter hurdles and Courtney Dinnan won the 5,000-meter run as Kate Vaughan finished second.

The Huskies dominated the 200-meter dash. Mandela Graves-Fulgham finished first, with UConn's Phylicia George, Danielle Lyte, and Jessica Foreman rounding out the top four spots.

Not only did UConn do well individually, but as a team they demolished the competition. The Connecticut "A" team won both the 4x100 meter relay and the 4x400 meter relay. The UConn "B" team placed second in the 4x400 meter relay. The great showing came at the right time of the outdoor track season. The Huskies head to Providence, R.I., next Sunday for the Brown Springtime Invitational.

"Everyone's just rounding into shape and now we are positioned well for the championships coming this spring," Morgan said.
