Spring Weekend isn't the only thing making headlines this weekend on the UConn campus. The Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts hosts two fantastic productions this upcoming weekend.

Complexions Contemporary Ballet, America's original multicultural dance company, will be showing at the Jorgensen. Connecticut Reperatory Theater's production of "Hair," a '60s tribal love-rock musical will both grace the stage, will be showing in the Harriet S. Jorgensen Theater in lower Jorgensen.

The ballet, whose dancers have been displayed on the front of Jorgensen since the beginning of the semester, is dedicated to portraying the restlessness and energy of New York in a variety of complex ways through various styles. The choreographer, Dwight Rhoden, is sought out for his unique talent and perspective.

"Rhoden's choreography grabs the viewer by the eyeballs and refuses to let go," according to Dance Magazine. The New York Times calls Rhoden "One of the most sought-out choreographers of the day."

"Hair's" original book and lyrics are by James Rado and Gerome Ragni. CRT's production is directed by Gabriel Barre, with music by Galt MacDermot. The show contains nudity, and features such famous songs like "Hai," "Aquarius" and "Good Morning Starshine."

The plot of the musical follows an ensemble of young peace-loving hippies through their personal experiences from Central Park to Vietnam. Claude, his friend Berger and their roommate Sheila are continuously revolting against the war and the strict regulations of their parents and the rest of society.

Currently, the production is also being resurrected on Broadway. About a month ago, the production debuted at the Al Hirschfeld Theater to rave reviews and excited audiences.

"Despite all that is different since 1967 - not to mention all that's different from pre-election August - the show finds a modern pulse of fury and hope without betraying the specifics of a period piece about Vietnam and all flavors of liberation," according to Newsday.com.

The cast for the CRT production will feature Equity actors Fabio Monteiro as Berger and Stephanie Umoh as Sheila. It will also feature graduate acting student Brian Patrick Williams as Claude and a live band to accompany all of the famous Broadway hits.

Tickets for tonight's Complexions show range between $25 and $30 for regular admission, $7 for UConn students and $10 for non-UConn students and children. Tickets for "Hair," playing range from $11 to $29. The show will run from April 23 to May 2. For more information on show times and tickets, check out crt.uconn.edu.
