When people think of Spring Weekend, images of keg stands and funnels rush through their heads like a brain freeze. What we forget is that the purpose of Spring Weekend is to unwind and have a good time right before finals. There are a variety of ways to accomplish this task. Considering the fact that the weather is forecasted to be close to heavenly this weekend, start off your festivities during the daytime. Oozeball is definitely something to enjoy. Even if you do not really want to get dirty, it is certainly entertaining to watch other students slip, fall and get crazy. Who knows, you might get inspired and join in on the fun.
Once Oozeball is over, you still have a lot of daylight to kill. Go the Student Union, grab a ton of food and have a makeshift barbecue outside. Sure, it is not the same, but it gets the job done. Eat and play anything from football to kickball outside. Trust me when I say, people will join you. There are enough people outside to envy your skills at having a good time that they will simply have no choice but to give in to temptation. You may even want to go up to Horsebarn Hill and enjoy the view. The wind up there is pretty soothing and it might be just what you need on a hot day. Or it might be just what you need after finally making up to the top of the hill. After all that, the sun should begin to set (unless you are abnormally efficient). This is when you have to fight your conformist impulses.
So the night has begun and everyone is making their journey over to the apartments. It is likely that most of your comrades will be doing the same thing. But think about it for a moment. You have done this so many times before. If you do not truly know people at the apartments, it may be a wise decision to try something else. That is unless you enjoy standing around in the middle of parking lot or street and getting intoxicated. So there are some other options for you here. Try to hit up some of the bars instead of the apartments. You might be pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere you find at Huskies, Ted's or even the bar at the Nathan Hale Inn during the weekend.
Now it may sound lame to some people, but Late Night at the Student Union tends to offer some of the best free stuff during Spring Weekend. Head on down there for a bit before your night time endeavors and you may come away with some pretty sweet stuff. Other stuff going on includes a rock musical in Jorgenson Friday night called "Hair." It may be just the out-there original event you need to knock you out if this Spring Weekend crisis you have. After the musical, you may find yourself singing and dancing on over to Celeron. Now that is definitely something you have not done before.
