The Storrs Side: UConn sports still active during Spring Weekend

Game of the Week: Softball 3, Villanova 2 (Sunday) - It was a game the Huskies had to have after a disappointing losing streak comprising six of their last seven games. But until the bottom of the sixth inning, it was a game the Huskies weren't going to get. However, a pair of solo home runs by Amy Deluca and Erin Burtner gave UConn a 3-2 lead. If UConn can pick up even one of two against Providence next weekend here, the Huskies should be set to return to the Big East tournament.
Wish We Were There: Penn Relays, Philadelphia (all weekend) - The UConn relay teams represented the school exceedingly well on one of the biggest stages in American track. Everybody who's anybody in the sport made their way to Franklin Field for the 115th annual event, as thousands of high school, college and pro athletes competed for honors.
Big Letdown: Ater Majok declares for NBA Draft (Thursday) - Majok hasn't signed an agent yet, so we reserve the right to take this back. But it is awfully disappointing that Majok - who would've seen 10-15 minutes of playing time on this year's Final Four squad, if Jim Calhoun is to be believed - may leave UConn without playing a single game. Now, if Majok leaves, and it turns out he made improper contact with slimeball/agent Josh Nochimson, "letdown" will take on a whole different meaning.
Number of the Week: Four - That's the number of UConn players taken in the first two rounds of the NFL Draft. Randy Edsall should be proud, because people are beginning to recognize that UConn plays football in between basketball seasons.
