Giraud appears to be on the ropes on 'American Idol'

As our spring semester is winding down, the competition on "American Idol" is heating up. With only five contestants remaining in season eight, the Idols took on Rat Pack Era songs Tuesday night. Jamie Foxx was the celebrity mentor this week and he gave the contestants constructive advice on how to sing and arrange their song choices.
The exciting live performance show began with Kris Allen singing "The Way You Look Tonight." He delivered a slow, sexy, pitch-perfect performance, which will no doubt keep him safe from elimination tomorrow night.
Thoughts from the judges: Kara said Kris was a dark horse this season. Simon called the performance wet, and gave no real explanation as to what wet meant, other than to say that it was not dry.
Seventeen-year-old spitfire Alison Iraheta gave an emotional rendition of "Somebody to Watch Over Me." Iraheta really allowed viewers to experience her range and control, rather than shouting her song, as she usually does. She sang circles around Allen and proved that she does not deserve to go home this week.
Paula called her performance alluring and tender but Simon gave her a seven out of 10 and seemed unenthusiastic about the performance.
Matt Giraud stepped onto the stage third and sang "My Funny Valentine." With strong advice from Foxx about holding his voice and letting his vibrato take over, Giraud gave a decent performance. He had a couple of botched notes, which, at this point in the competition, will not be tolerated by voters.
Randy called his performance pitchy, but Simon described the arrangement as absolutely brilliant. While he was good tonight, Giraud has been giving feeble performances over the last few weeks and shouldn t be surprised if he goes home tomorrow.
Fan-favorite Danny Gokey sang "Come Rain Or Come Shine" and was boring and predictable. As usual, Gokey tried to get on top of the song, instead of trying to connect with it and shouted the entire second half. Kara called it unbelievable and Simon hailed it as outstanding. It appears that I'm in the minority as a Gokey-hater, but I have grown weary listening to the judges praise his mediocrity.
The final performance was from Adam Lambert, who sauntered down the stage staircase singing "Feeling Good." He was easily the best performer of the night. His vocals were perfect and he was as dramatic and engaging as ever.
Kara called him shocking and sleazy. Simon, on the other hand, loved what Lambert did with the song. It's hard to deny genius. I am biased when it comes to Lambert, but can you really blame me? Lambert has a monopoly on being fierce.
None of the other contestants can ever really match up to him when it comes to vocal ability, range, creativity or stage presence. Worry not fellow Lambert fans - Adam will be safe from elimination tomorrow.
My predictions
Bottom three: Alison, Matt, Danny
Going Home: Matt

Kris Allen was definitely not pitch perfect. When the tempo increased he lost all control and only recovered at the end.

I hate that they overpraise a safe performance and mediocre vocals with LIMITED range from Kris, then criticize MATT who takes risks and clearly has superior vocals. (Continued…)
