UConn will look to continue their track championship success when they head to Villanova this Saturday for the Big East Championship.

The meet will be held at the Jumbo Elliot Track at Villanova. Having won two straight indoor track titles, the Huskies will have their hands full if they want to accomplish the outdoor feat. Louisville won the women's championship last year.

"Coming off our Big East Indoor Championship effort, the outdoor edition finds us in a more precarious position," said head coach Bill Morgan. "Our season rankings are down, the numbers we are taking are more compromising, yet our championship demeanor is evident."

Morgan believes he has a championship team in front of him, and believes the Huskies can maximize the moment this weekend and finish their season with a trophy in their hands and rings on their fingers. All-American Victoria Flowers will compete in her normal hammer throw and shot put events. Senior Captain Amanda Martin will try to hold her top conference mark in the javelin. Danika Ham, Carin Knight and Rachael Porter will also compete in field events. Trisha-Ann Hawthorne and Jessica Foreman will be put to the test in the 100 meters, while Heather Wilson and Leah Andrianos will run the 800. Meghan Cunningham and Sara Leslie will test their will in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

This is the Huskies' first competition since the Brown Springtime Invitational last week, where Flowers took first in the hammer throw and Martin won the javelin. Knight and Porter won their events as well.

This weekend is different, though. It is the Big East Championship, streamed live on bigeast.tv. But no matter the outcome, Coach Morgan already believes "the seniors will conclude their careers as the most dominant group in team history."
