An agricultural field at the north end of Horsebarn Hill Road played host to an assault Tuesday afternoon, June 2 according to UConn Police.
The victim, a woman, was alone in the field at about 2:30 p.m. when she was approached from behind by a man. The man displayed a handgun and grabbed her, attempting to prevent her from leaving the area, police said.
After a short scuffle, the victim was able to break free from her attacker, and the man fled north through the field, headed toward a wooded area away from the road.
According to Major Ronald Blicher, the UConn Police Department is still investigating the incident, and that as of Friday, there was no new information available for release.
Blicher said he could not talk about what the victim was doing in the field, but did say that she was not a UConn student.
