10. Women's ice hockey: UConn 2, Providence 1 (OT), Feb. 10, 2009

While the UConn's women's ice hockey team has been pretty successful for the last few years, the Friars have always had their number. Providence, head coach Heather Linstad's alma mater, defeated the Huskies three straight times heading into this matchup, including in Storrs during the 2008 Hockey East tournament. After trailing for the entire first two periods, Dominque Thibault knotted the game at one. With Providence collecting a tripping penalty with 1:20 left in the game, the Huskies had the man advantage till the last horn but couldn't cash in. When it came to the overtime UConn got it done quickly, with Nicole Tritter taking a pass from Monique Weber and firing a wrist shot in the net for the game-winning goal just 50 seconds into the extra period.

9. Women's lacrosse: UConn 11, Cincinnati 9; UConn 8, Louisville 7, Mar. 27 and Mar. 29, 2009

This weekend was the biggest accomplishment in UConn women's lacrosse for the past two seasons. After going a dismal 1-15 in 2008, the Huskies started out 2009 with nine-game losing streak, including a gut-wrenching 13-14 loss to Brown in double-overtime. The victory on Friday against the Bearcats gave UConn its first conference win since a 15-12 victory over Loyola on April 11, 2007. The Huskies would go on to win just one more game for the remainder of the year and miss out on the Big East tournament again, but with a first-year head coach and a young group of talent, sweeping two Big East teams in a single weekend shows a lot of promise for the future.

8. Men's soccer: UConn 2, Cincinnati 1, Sept. 21, 2008

In UConn's Big East home opener, the Bearcats jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the 25:24 mark and the Huskies tried all game to catch up. With less than six minutes to go, it looked as if the Huskies would suffer their first loss of the season. UConn served the ball into the box and took a shot which ricocheted off a Bearcat defender's arm. On the ensuing free kick Akeem Priestley knotted the game at one. With Cincinnati seeming content to play for overtime UConn continued to amp up the pressure, with Mike Pezza breaking through the defense and streaking down the right wing. As he had done 17 times the season before, he served a perfect cross into the box, where O'Brien White got a foot on it and sent it into the net to give the Huskies the lead for good with less than three minutes to play.
