'Speidi' hit new low

The celebrity world never ceases to amaze me.
The biggest highlight in celeb gossip news since many of the Storrs undergraduate community left the bustling campus involves everyone's favorite "Speidi" duo: Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt. Now, I'm under the impression that the only reason celebrities do "challenge-esque" shows (think: "Real World Road Rules Challenge") is for some extra cash and Speidi may be a little desperate with their latest attempt on "I'm a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!" The couple traveled to the show's production site in Costa Rica and, attention deprived, spent a night in the show's "Lost Chamber." During their time in the chamber, Spencer reportedly claimed to have dislocated his thumb.
"I've dislocated my thumb! Emergency! Call a medic!'" yelped Pratt, according to People.com. According to the Web site, when a medic arrived at the scene and asked Pratt to give him a thumbs-up.
"Then you haven't dislocated your thumb, Spencer!" said the medic. "Sit down! Don't be ridiculous."
And if this isn't enough entertainment from the southern hemisphere, Montag also made a trip to the hospital while in Costa Rica. Pratt's sister Stephanie, told the media she was "virtually on her deathbed."
Immediately on damage control, their representative released a statement detailing the situation.
"Many of these reports are false and inaccurate, including any reports of 'torture' on the show," said their representative on People.com. "What we can say at this time is that Heidi went to a hospital in San Jose, Costa Rica, Saturday evening because she was not feeling well. She has been released from the hospital and is doing well. The couple remains in Costa Rica."
I guess the duo isn't exactly cut out to leave the glamorous side of five-star resort hotels and balcony views of the Costa Rican sunset.
