While the Emmys are supposed to be all about the awards, let's be honest. More often than not, it's all about the red carpet fashion.
And in the case of this year's red carpet, though there was an array of colors, the popular styles were black, white and red, with nominees, presenters and attendees strutting their stuff in designer threads.
Neutrals and light pastels were also popular in the late summer heat of the red carpet.
But whatever the color, the style of these glitzy garments was often Grecian, with asymmetric, one-shoulder dresses draped within an inch of their lives.
While all the women on the red carpet were the epitome of glitz and glamour, some certainly stood out from the rest.
1.) Christina Applegate, though not an Emmy winner, certain won the best dressed category for her midnight blue Basil Soda gown. In a sea of the same bold colors, she stood out because of the sparkling gem detailing on her shoulder strap and throughout her bodice, which made an interesting sequined pattern around the waist of her gown, accented with a bow.
2.) Heidi Klum can officially do no wrong. Though in her third trimester of pregnancy with her fourth child, Klum still showed off her sexy curves along with her baby bump in a strapless mermaid-style Marchesa gown. Not only did the dress sparkle in the lights while her elegant train swept the carpet behind her, but she looked absolutely glowing and elegant with her slicked-back hair and dangling chandelier earrings.
3.) Olivia Wilde showed that she could pull off a wild yet elegant look with her daring silver Marchesa gown, which appeared entirely backless with cut outs through the front, exposing her flawless body. Though the color was a little bland, the dress made up for it with the risqué factor.
4.) January Jones was another daring soul on the red carpet with her architectural, strapless light pink Versace gown that had an art deco- inspired pattern on the bodice. Though she had pieces that widened her hips, Jones showed that she could flatter her body with any look.
5.) Elizabeth Moss showed off some of her "Mad Men" glamour sense with her one-shoulder metallic gown with a bejeweled neckpiece attachment. Along with her perfect finger-waved hairstyle and dangling drop earrings, Moss nailed a complete, elegant look.
