The men's basketball team deserves a higher preseason ranking than the No. 12. It is not the same as last year's Final Four team thanks to the departures of Hasheem Thabeet, A.J. Price and Jeff Adrien, but they return a wealth of talented and experienced players to complement a strong group of newcomers. With Jerome Dyson and Kemba Walker at guard, Stanley Robinson and Gavin Edwards up front and a talented bench that will feature talented newcomers, this years team has all the makings of a top-10 squad.

As painful as it is to admit, UConn's No. 12 ranking is too generous. The Huskies return a handful of experienced players from last year's Final Four squad, but they do not stack up to the stronger programs yet. Fans won't receive life-size posters of Hasheem Thabeet and A.J. Price because they have moved on to the NBA. This is a new team that may be a force to be reckoned with at the Big East and national level, but their ranking should be lower. Let them earn a high ranking on the court.

Mac Cerullo: The UConn basketball team should be ranked higher than No. 12. While losing Hasheem Thabeet, A.J. Price and Jeff Adrien to the NBA draft will hurt, the Huskies return a wealth of talent while bringing in a promising freshman class., I believe that the Huskies once again have the pieces to be a top-10 team.

Matt McDonough: The Huskies' losses outweigh what they gained. Four of five Final Four starters from their Final Four apperance are gone, and the recruiting class is strong, yet unproven. Their frontcourt is full of question marks and Jerome Dyson, considered by many to be their best player, is coming off injury. They have a lot to prove before the can be considered part of the top 10.

Mac: Although Stanley Robinson is the only returning starter from that game, it would be foolish to say that the Huskies aren't returning any experienced players. They are also returning Kemba Walker, who looks to be a key player for this year's team, as well as Gavin Edwards, a valuable member of last year's team. Jerome Dyson is coming off an injury but he is a veteran and knows how to prepare himself despite the setback. That being the case, this year's team won't be lacking the experience or talent that makes a top-10 team.
